PHOTOSYNTHESIS VS RESPIRATION
Photosynthesis is an energy-capturing
process
Respiration is an energy releasing process
Photosynthetic organisms use solar energy to synthesize organic compounds (such as carbohydrates ).
Energy stored in the organic compounds is, as released in a controlled manner during glycolysis and respiration. This energy is then used by cells /organisms
Photosynthesis is anabolic process.
Respiration is catabolic process
Photosynthesis occurs during day time. Respiration is day and night process.
During darkness leaves and other active parts respire and use oxygen and release carbon dioxide
Photosynthesis uses the products of
respiration (absorbs CO2 and releases
O2)
Respiration uses the products of photosynthesis absorbs O2 and releases CO2 and H2O)
Photosynthesis does not occur in the absence of CO2
Respiration can occur in the absence of O2 By it organism gains weight By it organism loses weight.
